The Lab Grading Software for the Gottlieb Lab Manual is available from
MICROPHYS PROGRAMS of Sparta, NJ
These folks have written a program that automatically evaluates the students work and provides the instructor with an excellent tool for grading purposes.
The material has been class tested and looks good to us. The user interface may seem a bit primitive by today's standards, but it works fine in all versions of windows. It even works in DOS. This may be a great advantage if you are running older DOS based machines for data acquisition in the laboratory.
Also, we have talked them into working with us to develop a full windows implementation of this program. When it is finished, a free upgrade will be offered to registered users of this program.
Students enter their data and the results of their calculations into the computer and it returns a printed form which they turn in, either by itself or as a cover sheet for lab notes. This gives the instructor a uniform
overview of lab performance.
You should try it. You can download an evaluation copy of the the program and use your browser to print out a sample experiment,
Experiment 3, TORQUES from this site. You have full permission to make copies of Experiment 3 for class testing.
TRY IT! YOU'LL LIKE IT!
Any instructional aid that saves you time in grading also helps your students since no teacher has more than a finite amount time for
teaching.
